| When I first met Danny, he was a hot-headed, fiery tennis player who used to cause a big scene on the tennis courts and yell at himself in foreign languages. Lol. A few years later, he eventually calmed down and became the lovable tennis guy that my family (and everyone else) loved. He played on my dad's tennis team and the summer before my senior year of high school (we won't say how old Danny was), he rode in the back seat with me to a tennis tournament in St. Louis. While we were there, my mother told my father that it was a shame Danny was so much older than me, because we would make "such a cute couple."
Years went by and I didn't see Danny. Our lives went in different directions and in 2010, I ran into him again at my birthday party in Lawrence, which happened to be at the bar he owned at the time. My parents and I loved catching back up with him and even convinced him to come back and play tennis with us again. This time, I was actually playing tennis, and Danny and I were mixed doubles partners.
Over the last couple of years, Danny has made such a huge impact on my life. He quickly became my best friend and I thank God every day that he came back into my life. He's brought a new level of happiness to my life that I never knew existed. I'm extremely thankful for him and I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with him. |
