Brandon truly surprised Ciara with his proposal, a feat Ciara didn't think possible.  Ciara was told she was going over to her parents house to celebrate her father's birthday in May of 2016.  Many family and friends were there having a great time.  Ciara was begrudgingly posing for family photos in the backyard of her childhood home when Brandon took her hand and thanked her for "not running for the hills" even after "I crapped on your floor" among other, more romantic sentiments.  He got down on one knee and placed her dream ring on her finger.  Of course she said YES!
